Israel-Hamas war rages as US deploys additional missile defenses to Middle East
The Israel Defense Forces have announced an increase in aerial bombardments in Gaza. The IDF’s chief of staff also informed commanders that a military operation to target Hamas in the Gaza Strip will be initiated, but without specifying a timeframe. Additionally, the Israeli military has intensified its activities in the occupied West Bank, including an airstrike on a mosque aimed at preventing a perceived imminent terror threat, resulting in three casualties, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. These developments occur amidst a surge of violence against Palestinians in the region.
Furthermore, the Rafah crossing briefly opened to allow the first aid convoy from Egypt to enter Gaza, although more assistance is urgently required in the besieged Gaza Strip where living conditions are deteriorating.
In response to recent escalations in the Middle East, the US military is deploying additional missile defense systems to the region and has put more US troops on prepare-to-deploy status.
The US and its allies are urging Israel to establish clear objectives for any potential ground assault on Gaza, with a strong emphasis on minimizing civilian casualties, as conveyed by US and Western officials.
